Discover the learning experience and opportunities you can expect from this course.

Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. It is the basis of all other sciences, including chemistry and biology. Our Physics course is designed to inspire learners. The course will develop your interest in and enthusiasm for understanding the inner workings of the universe. Topics covered include: Forces and Motion; Electrons, waves and photons; The Newtonian world; Astrophysics; Particle physics and Medical imaging. Throughout the course we have built in opportunities to undertake exciting experiments, often recreating the greatest and most famous experiments in the history of Science. To undertake an A level in Physics is to begin the journey to perhaps the hardest but most prestigious A level of all. OCR's A Level in Physics A specification aims to encourage learners to: develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of the subject and how they relate to each other; develop and demonstrate a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods; develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills; develop their interest in and enthusiasm for the subject, including developing an interest in further study and careers associated with the subject; understand how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society.

Assessment Overview Modelling physics (01) 100 marks - 2 hours 15 minutes written paper (37%) Exploring physics (02) 100 marks - 2 hours 15 minutes written paper (37%) Unifed physics (03) 70 marks - 1 hour 30 minutes written paper (26%) Plus Practical Endorsement in physics (04) (non exam assessment)

This specification provides a suitable progression to a range of higher education degree and vocational level courses or to employment. As learners
progress through the course they will build on their knowledge of the laws of Physics, applying their understanding to solve problems on topics ranging
from sub-atomic particles to the entre universe. For A level only, the Practical Endorsement will also support the development of practical skills.
